The pavilion at Peace Island Park has been given the green light to reopen in August. That's one month earlier than planned, and follows the park reopening to campers in June.

"We’ll be reaching out to all those people who might have had bookings in August to see if they still want it,” said Mayor Rob Fraser. “But they still need to have a plan, and obviously that plan has to meet the provincial objectives.”

No more than 50 people can use the pavilion, and plan must be submitted to the district 10 days in advance of aproposed event. Any safety plans must contain detailed seating arrangements for all guests.

Residents will be able to host weddings, family reunions, and other events, as long as they work within the rules.

“For family events where they can keep it to 50 or less, we want to see that continue to happen because that’s a great venue for that sort of stuff,” Fraser said.

B.C. is entering phase three of its pandemic restart plan, and the district has opened the Lone Wolf Golf course along with its ball diamonds.

The District is also planning to reopen the Taylor Arena in mid-to-late-September.
