Taylor's municipal election campaign is underway with the filing of nomination papers by at least one candidate Tuesday.

Taylor’s first set of nomination papers were turned into the district office Tuesday, as the nomination period for October’s municipal election gets underway.

As announced earlier, Betty Ponto has now filed to run for the position of councillor.

It's believed current councillor Michelle Turnbull will do the same later today.

Another member of council, Coun. Brent Taillefer, has said he would be putting his name forward for mayor to replace outgoing mayor Rob Fraser.

So far, only three candidates have publicly announced their intentions.

There are four councillor positions and one seat for mayor in the community of close to 1,500 people.

Election day is Saturday, Oct. 15.
