The District of Taylor will have an election for both its mayor and council seats after extending its nomination deadline to Monday

The District of Taylor will have an election for its new mayor and four councillor positions.

Murray Giesbrecht and Desirae Graziano both filed their nomination papers Monday to qualify for next month's municipal election.

Current councillors Betty Ponto and Michelle Turnbull and former district manager Gord Davies had already filed prior to Friday's nomination deadline, which was extended with an empty fourth seat.

In Chetwynd, the other community in the region that had to extend its nomination deadline to Monday with only five of six seats filled won't be needing an election.

Andrea Smith was the only person to file meaning all six seats were won by acclamation.

More to come.
