COVID cases climb by four at Site C

Four more Site C workers have tested positive for COVID-19, BC Hydro said Friday.

BC Hydro says all four contractor workers were part of the same crew at site. Three are currently isolating at the work camp, while a fourth is isolating at home, after testing positive when they returned home from their shift rotation, BC Hydro said.

“As a precautionary measure, all remaining members of this work crew have also been isolated in camp or at home,” BC Hydro said in a notice. “None of the workers who tested positive left camp or had any interaction with the local community.”

As of Friday, there were 1,518 workers reported at the work camp, 32 in self-isolation — the highest number in quarantine at one time since the pandemic began.

There have now been 11 cases of the COVID-19 virus reported among workers on the project.
