First Base - Italy to host 2026 Olympics

The Italy bid to host the 2026 Winter Olympics was slected by voters this morning to be the official host. The games will be held in Milan and Cortina. These games will come 20 years after Italy last hosted the Winter Games in Torino, in 2006.

Second Base - Nick Nurse named head coach of Canadian national team

Now that he's an NBA champion, Nick Nurse will try and lead the Canadian men's basketball team back to the Olympics for the first time since 2000. Nurse was selected to be the head coach of the national team, and he will coach the team in China for the FIBA Basketball World Cup, which starts August 31. Nurse has previous international coaching experience as an assistant with Great Britain at the 2012 Olympics.

Third Base - Canada plays Sweden today 

Canada will have a tough task today when the team plays Sweden in the round of 16 at the Women's World Cup. The game starts at 12 p.m., and will decide who will advance to the quarterfinals. Canada finished second in its group with two wins and a loss. Sweden also finished second in its group with the same record. The only Swedish loss was against the United States, 2-0. Currently, U.S.A. and Spain are tied 1-1 at halftime. 

Home Base - P.K. Subban ready to join Devils

The NHL had a busy week, with its awards show and the draft. Following the draft was a series if intriguing trades, none more-so than P.K. Subban being traded from Nashville to the New Jersey Devils. Subban will join number-one pick Jack Hughes, Taylor Hall, and Nico Hischier as they try to get back to the playoffs and convince Hall to sign an extension with the Devils. They also become one of the most exciting teams to watch next season. "When I found out that I was traded to the New Jersey Devils, I was extremely excited," Subban said.
