The Peace Curling Tour Challenge Division trophy is coming home. Bob Cooper's team out of Fort St. John won the division title on Sunday, January 12, during the 2020 Peace Curling Tour Championship in Sexsmith. Cooper's team, as well as all the Fort St. John based teams, had struggled on the tour this year. Yet, when it was all said and done, it was Cooper's team that beat defending champion Courtland Sonnenberg in the final.
“The competition was really well run, it was a nice event to play in, and it was very unexpected to win,” said Cooper.
The team consisted of lead Darryl Horst, second Travis Cooper, third Kevin Young, and skip Bob Cooper.
In the Competitive Division, Peace Curling Tour President Colin Griffith's team came out of nowhere to beat Jeff Ginter's team 7-1 in the final. The defnding Competitive Division champions, skipped by Scott Webb, failed to make the playoffs at the final tournament.
Rounding out the division winners were Casey Patterson's team from Dawson Creek winning the Junior Division over Colesie Vandale's team, while the Dawson Creek Tornadoes beat the Fort St. John Lightning to win the Special Olympics Division.
