Cariboo Cougars to play Winter Classic in Fort St. James this weekend

It's not just the pros who get to play outdoors. John Herrington, Hunter Brown and Jordan Fairlie will have a unique experience this weekend playing in the annual BCMML Winter Classic in Fort St. James. The Cariboo Cougars will play the Vancouver Northwest Hawks at the Ernie Sam Memorial Arena on Nak'azdli Whut'en territory, at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 18. The facility is outside and open-air, but does have a roof.

The Cougars have played in the winter classic once before. The team will also play the Cougars indoors at the Fort Forum, Sunday, January 19 at 12:30 p.m. The Northern Capitals, who play in the B.C. Hockey Female Midget AAA League, will also be a part of the festivities, playing the Greater Vancouver Comets outdoors on Sunday at 9 a.m.
