The Fort St. John Huskies, along with the other five NWJHL teams, will play two games this weekend in Grande Prairie as part of the first annual NWJHL Showcase. The event is designed so scouts and coaches can see all the players in the league in one place, and get a feel for the talent and systems that exist in the league.
The Huskies lost two games last weekend to fall to 6-4-1 on the season. With 13 points, they're fourth in the standings, seven behind the Dawson Creek Junior Cancucks. However, the Huskies have three games in hand on the Canucks. As well, they play the two teams at the bottom of the standings this week, a nice change after playing the first place team twice last weekend.
The Huskies play their first game against the hometown County of Grande Prairie JDA Kings on Nov. 10 at 8 p.m. The Kings are having a tough year, and are fifth in the league with a 2-8 record. Fort St. John is 2-0 against Grande Prairie this season, outscoring the Kings 11-6.
On Sunday, Nov. 11, the Huskies play the last-place Fairview Flyers (1-9-2) at 1 p.m. The Huskies played the Flyers once so far this season, winning 4-3.
Huskies fans from Fort St. John are encouraged to make the trip for the games, and can watch up to three games on Saturday and two on Sunday.
