Fort St. John Huskies repeat as NWJHL champions

The Fort St. John Huskies are again Senators Cup champions, beating the County of Grande Prairie Kings 8-1 on the road Saturday night.

The Huskies defended their Senator's Cup title by winning the NWJHL Final in six games.

The Huskies seemed to be on cruise control for the first half of the second period, until the Kings finally scored on the powerplay 10 minutes in. Grande Prairie had the momentum for the next 10 minutes, but were unable to score. Geoff Dick scored for the Huskies with 30 seconds left to put the Huskies up 3-1 heading into the third period.

From there, the rout was on as the Huskies had their way with the Kings in the third period. They scored twice in the first seven minutes to put the game out of reach at 5-1, and proceeded to score three more times before the end of the game.
