Fort St. John to host 2020 intercity bowling tournament

Bowlers, it's time to shine your bowling balls and lace up your shoes, as the 54th annual Peace Region Intercity Tournament is coming to Fort St. John.

It's the first time in five years that Fort St. John will host the tournament, which will welcomes bowlers from Fairview, Dawson Creek, Prince George, and Grande Prairie from Friday, February 28 to Sunday, March 1.

"It's such a great tournament every year," said Kevin Alexander, who will host the tournament at Fort Bowling Lanes. "I love how competitive it is, and it's just a great time to get together with friends and make new ones."

If you'd like to participate in the tournament on one of the Fort St. John teams, clear your schedule for this Sunday, Jan. 19.

The roll-off will start at 9 a.m. and run until around 2 p.m., with the top six mens and ladies bowlers, by average, given a spot on the respective teams. The next three-best men and women will make up the mixed team.

The Intercity starts at 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28,,and 7 a.m. on Saturday, with a dance and banquet held Saturday night. The finals will begin around 12 p.m. on the Sunday.
