One was in his 70s and the other in his 80s and their deaths were announced on Friday and on Monday.

They had been living in Rotary Manor, the scene of a community outbreak declared on November 2 following a lab-confirmed case of a single staff member. In subsequent days, the count grew to two staff and seven residents.

Northern Health has said the declaration will remain in place for at least 28 days, adding up to two 14-day COVID-19 incubation periods. If no further cases are found in that time, the outbreak will be declared over.

As of Monday, five people in Northern Health have died as a result of the virus. Two were women in their 70s and one in her 60s.

Names of the victims have not been released.

Meanwhile, Raper also confirmed that the 62 active cases reported on Friday was highest level recorded in the Northern Health so far. The total had dropped by one by Monday.
