The Blizzard Bike Club held the first of eight races in its Spring Stage series on April 14, 2019.
Ten cyclists rode in the Rocky Road Classic, a 16km gravel road circuit that began just east of the Lone Wolf Golf Club in Taylor and included a trip up and down the steep Peaceview Road hill.
Seven riders chose to complete the course once, while three others, Nick Guliov, his father, Darren, and Dan Webster decided to ride the circuit twice to acquire points in the series and season standings.
It wasn't, however, until the second ride up the Peaceview Hill that the younger Guliov was able to pull away from Dan Webster, the 2018 winner, and win the five points and the trophy.
His time of 1 hour, 23 minutes and 57 seconds was just over four minutes faster than Webster's 1:27:58.
Pat Ferris was the winner of the (16km) short course clocking in at 45:52.
Kristine Bock took top honours in the Ladies event with a time of 47:20, beating out Heather McCracken by just 46 seconds.
The second event in the series, a time trial, slated for Thursday, April 18 is set for 6:30 p.m.
For times and locations of the remaining races in the series, see the club's website.
