Northern Strikers win gold and silver at Edmonton's Summer Sizzler

The U15 and U17 girls Northern Strikers teams travelled to Edmonton last weekend, June 8 and 9, for the Summer Sizzler. 

The U17 girls dominated the U19 Pool A competition from start to finish on way to winning gold. They opened the tournament with a 8-0 victory over FT Heights. Julie Bonekamp and Jordynn McPherson each had two goals.

Later that night, the team beat the Rocky Knights U17/19 team 8-0. Bonekamp and McPherson each had a had trick, and keeper Alecs Larios turned in her second shutout of the day. 

In the final game, the Strikers beat Bonnyville 5-0. Shenae Connell had two goals.

For the U15s, they tied Xtreme FC 04 2-2 to start the tournament, with goals from Nevaeh Mohniger and Brynn Kielo.

In the second game, the girls played the Xtreme FC 05 team, winning 6-0. Paige McPherson, Avary Tyrrell, Rylin Clement, Shayne Turner, Brynn Kielo, and Marti Kielo each scored.

The girls lost 5-0 to SW Sting in the final. Alex MacDonald played great in net and weent 1-1-1 on the weekend.
