NWJHL down one team — Beaverlodge Blades out

There will be one less team to see in NWJHL play this season. The Beaverlodge Blades have withdrawn from the 2018/19 season.

“As most are aware, Beaverlodge Blades will not be icing a team for the 2018/19 season,” says a statement attributed to an NWJHL executive. “The NWJHL wishes to thank [President] Richard [Lappenbush] and all those who gave it their all in trying to keep the team alive.”

According to Junior Canucks GM Colby Wagar, the NWJHL is working on a new schedule that will come out soon. While the schedule online no longer shows games that featured the Blades, Wagar says they are adding games to the schedule to make up for the difference. The first two weeks will mostly be the same.

With the Blades withdrawing, there are currently six teams in the league.
