Fort St. John’s own Ralph Jarratt will get a slice of the NHL life this weekend, as the 18-year-old will join the New Jersey Devils Prospects Challenge for two games.
The six foot two, 217 pound defenseman, who plays with the Western Hockey League’s Victoria Royals will report to New Jersey on Thursday and play Sept. 17 against Buffalo and Sept. 18 against Boston.
Jarratt will join an elite group of prospects for the two-day challenge, with Devils’ first rounders Michael McLeod, Pavel Zacha and John Quennville all playing. Jarratt was one of seven defensemen named to the roster.
The former Fort St. John Minor Hockey product will enter his third season with the Royals this year, and in two seasons he’s played 118 games and totaled five goals and 16 assists.
Jarratt had four assists in four pre-season games this season with the Royals. The Royals regular season gets underway Friday, Sept. 23 against the Prince George Cougars.
