SCOREBOARD: Fort St. John Huskies 8, Sexsmith Vipers 2

The Fort St. John Huskies came into Saturday night's game against the Sexsmith Vipers as confident as could be, thanks to their dramatic comeback victory against Fairview on Friday. The Huskies kept up where they left off on Friday, beating the Vipers 8-2, outshooting them 52-21, and controlling the game the entire way.

"We knew after last night that if we played fast and moved our feet they wouldn’t be able to play with us," Huskies Assistant Coach Cameron Weir said, referencing the win over Fairview.

Huskies newcomer Dawson Phillips got his first goal for the team to start the game. From there, it was the veterans who did the damage. Gary Loewen had two goals and two assists, and Cody Brodhagen had two goals and an assist. Rookie Alex Nimmo had three assists, and goalie Brody Greggain got the win in his first start of the season.

The Huskies lost to this same Sexsmith team 6-0 a week ago on September 28, but looked like a much different team Saturday night.

"We had a bit of a chip on our shoulder tonight. We knew that was disappointing last weekend and that we had to give a better effort," Weir said.

The Huskies are off next weekend, and will head back to Sexsmith for their next game on Wednesday, October 17.
