Tour of the Peace organizers to ride this weekend despite event's cancelation

Despite cancelling the 2019 Tour of the Peace in June, tour organizers Dan and Joanna Webster will still be riding the route this weekend, August 17, and are encouraging others to join them.

The tour was created in 2016 to raise support and funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, after the Webster's son was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. On the Tour of the Peace Facebook Page, Dan said he was sorry to cancel the tour but will be continuing the ride privately anyway.

"I know I let many of you down by not putting on the ride, but the one person I can't let down is my son, so I have continued fundraising and will do the ride to show him my support for the struggle that living with diabetes is," said Dan.

Dan said those who wished to join him can meet him at Dinosaur Lake at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, but cautioned that it will not be a supported ride. Joanna will be walking the route, beginning at 3 a.m. at the Beatton Park day use area.
