Dawson Creek boy to skate with Canucks on Sunday

A Dawson Creek Minor Hockey Player is going to live out one of his dreams this weekend, as he'll lead the Vancouver Canucks onto the ice at Rogers Arena this Sunday during the NHL team's pre-anthem skate.

Goaltender Jacob Norman, 10, has epilepsy and was selected by the program Every Kids Dream to skate with the Canucks before Sunday's game vs. the Dallas Stars, and stand with his favourite player, Roberto Luongo, on the blue line during the singing of the national anthem.

"Jacob loves being a goalie more than anything, and is beyond excited to have the opportunity to be on the ice with his favourite goalie, Roberto Luongo," said Jacob's mother, Kristy Norman on Thursday.

Jacob was told earlier this week that he was selected to join the Canucks (his favourite team) on the ice this weekend, something his grandmother Jean Harcourt says is a dream come true for him.

Jacob has been undergoing tests for his epilepsy at Stollery Hospital, and will need brain surgery in the near future, "so this experience is extra special for Jacob," Kristy said.

In the meantime, the minor hockey goalie is excited to spend some time with his favourite NHL team, and players, this Sunday at Rogers Arena.

Jacob's appearance with the Canucks can be seen this Sunday at 5 p.m. (PST) on Sportsnet Pacific.
