Hedges invited to national selection camp

Wonowon's Bo Hedges and 38 other athletes have been invited to attend the selection camps for the Canadian Men's and Women's National Wheelchair Basketball Teams at the University of Nevada this January.

Hedges, who won gold with the men's national team at the London 2012 Paralympic Games, will vie for a spot on the team with 17 others. Their selection camp will run Jan. 13 to 16 in Las Vegas.

The only other player from B.C. invited to the men's selection camp is Deion Green out of Victoria.

Hedges is currently completing his graduate studies at the University of Alabama and was recently back on home soil in Langley when he helped out at a junior camp two weeks ago and got to see up-and-comers in the sport of wheelchair basketball.

"I saw lots of people I hadn't seen in a long time," Hedges posted on Facebook. "So much improvement from all the young players in B.C."

Hedges got to train at one of his favourite facilities as well on Dec. 16 when he hit up the Richmond Oval before coming home to Wonowon for Christmas holidays.
