The Fort St. John Petroleum Midget Flyers played two hard-fought home games over the past two weekends, but fell short to Grande Prairie and Manning who made the trip despite snowy highways.
On Nov. 16, Grande Prairie came to town and swept the Flyers in a 7-4 win. The Flyers had some impressive passing and game play throughout the 60 minutes, but Grande Prairie outpowered Fort St. John.
Scoring for the Flyers were Alexander Travis (with assists to Braden McCormack and Jeff Heber), Bradley Dixon (assists to Hayden Harsch and Heber), Elias Thompson and Heber with the fourth goal (with assists to Ryan MacLachlan and goalie Evan O'Neill).
Welcoming Manning to Fort St. John on Saturday, the Flyers came out stronger, grabbing a 2-0 lead early with some strong play between the pipes from goalie Austin Craig.
Unfortunately the Midget Flyers lost a lot of their initial momentum, and Manning came back and eventually won the game 5-3.
Hoping to get a win, the Flyers will host High Prairie and Beaverlodge this weekend at the Pomeroy Sport Centre.
The Flyers will play High Prairie this Saturday at 7 p.m. and Beaverlodge on Sunday, Dec. 1.
