Seniors buckle down for rodeo finals


The B.C. North High School Rodeo Association held its last senior rodeo of the season in Hudson's Hope over the weekend where hometown ropers like Ricky Warren and Yvonne Clarke got to shine in front of family and friends.

Northern high school rodeo-goers from the Peace Region are gearing up for the B.C. High School Rodeo Finals in Quesnel June 6-9, but in the meantime, they have managed to get some good times in at Hudson's Hope over the weekend in preparation.

Below are the top results from students during Sunday and Monday's long-weekend go-rounds:



SUNDAY

Barrel Racing: 1st - Yvonne Clarke (Hudson's Hope), 2nd - Kielee Olmstead (Baldonnel), 3rd - Montana Enns (Red Deer, Alta).

Boys Cutting: 1st - Ricky Warren (Hudon's Hope).

Breakaway Roping: 1st - Aleeza Defelice (Dawson Creek), 2nd - Rikki Hutnyk (Quesnel), 3rd - Jamie Dean MacDonald (Fort St. James).

Bull Riding: 1st - Cody Sluggett (Dawson Creek), 2nd - Wayde Sluggett (Dawson Creek), 3rd - Dustin Spiers (Quesnel), 4th - Jake Gardner (Fort St. John).

Girls Cutting: 1st - Krystie Vipond (Dawson Creek), 2nd - Anna Rorison (Dawson Creek), 3rd - Rylee Trenholm (Chetwynd), 4th - Kielee Olmstead (Baldonnel).

Goat Tying: 1st - Julia Jordanov (Dawson Creek), 2nd - Kielee Olmstead (Baldonnel), 3rd - Lauryn Davis (Pouce Coupe).

Pole Bending: 1st - Sara Hapke (Prince George), 2nd - Rylee Trenholm (Chetwynd), 3rd - Jamie Dean MacDonald (Fort St. James), 4th - Destinee Paulovich (Charlie Lake).

Saddle Bronc: 1st - Jake Gardner (Fort St. John), 2nd - Ricky Warren (Hudson's Hope), 3rd - Chance Burnell (Dawson Creek).

Steer Wrestling: 1st - Tristen Bassett (Dawson Creek), 2nd - Jess Robinson (Fort St. John), 3rd - Ricky Warren (Hudson's Hope).

Team Roping: 1st - Rylee Trenholm (Chetwynd) and Anissa Little (Groundbirch). 2nd - Rachelle Hancock (Quesnel) and Jess Robinson (Fort St. John). 3rd - Aleeza Defelice (Dawson Creek) and Dustin Spiers (Quesnel).

Tie-down Roping: 1st - Dustin Spiers (Quesnel), 2nd - Tristen Bassett (Dawson Creek), 3rd - Ricky Warren (Hudson's Hope).



Monday
